This was our 2nd trip to the Jagged X Rhino Crash event at Glamis Sand Dunes in California. We went with friends, Eric and Lisa, Brandi and Phil, Jason and Corri. This is Robert with Eric and Lisa on the day we arrived. We are trying to set up camp, always a fun prospect. A Rhino Crash is a large gathering of Rhinos, as in the animals. Everyone brings their Yamaha Rhinos to the dunes for this event. Jagged X puts on a BBQ and a raffle. It is usually a good time.
Robert playing in our two seater sandcar. (2008 Rhino Crash)
Robert switching the flags around. The Rhino Crash is held the first weekend in March every year. You can see we did bring his Rhino there behind the sand car.
Eric and Lisa's sandcar. I love this car, they did a great job on design and paint. Pictured is Eric and their oldest son Cody. (RC 2008)
Robert seems to have gained a love for high speed rolls. This is what happens when you roll your sandcar down the sand drags at over a hundred MPH. Thank God he walked away unhurt and he was wearing his helmet. The only damage to the car as you can see is the bent a-arms.
This is a little more up close. Someone was kind enough to pull him, or I should say drag him back to camp. This wheel would not turn. I thankfully did not see this roll.
Is this not one sexy, hot man!
Car #2. Robert built his second car in 2007. He had it 3m wrapped. He did not race it very long before replacing it with car #3.
In case you do not know what a Yamaha Rhino is, here is a stock Rhino before it has been altered. This is me and mom in our first Rhino we purchased in Sept. of 2006. By December Robert was tearing it apart to build his first race Rhino.
The good old days. Robert racing at the RPM race in Prescott, Arizona in 2003. This is when he raced pro in quads.
This was the display of the Monster trucks for the pit party. They allow the fans to come before the show to get autographs and pictures. It was fun watching them get the trucks set up.
My Car is finally done! Robert and the Wellers got the motor back in and all of it put back together. It turned out great. And it has already been out on the track. We took it to ET and I drove it and I am even learning how to jump. I still need a few more lessons! :)
This is an up close look at my paint job. The Wellers had on consignment a set of plastics with Ghost Rider on them, I liked them so Robert bought them for my car and had the painter do my side panels also. He does a nice job.
This is Robert's new toy. It is a gas powered RC car made by Traxxis. Now he can play with the other kids at the races. :)
Everyone hanging out in the pits waiting to see Robert pass at the Heber Whiplash race. His average lap was 36 minutes, so we had a long time to wait-even longer when he broke down. :) Pictured from the back (L to R) David, Jason Weller, Danny & Steve (hiding behind dad), and Tricia, Dad and mom. We had a good time.
